A Warm Welcome to the Burghfield WI Website
Our WI was founded in 1917, so this year we celebrate 96 years. Plans are forming to celebrate in a big way our centenary in June 2017, and being the oldest existing WI in the Berkshire Federation of Women's Institutes, and one of the oldest in the country, we are planning for very big things! As part of the National Federation of Women's Institutes, our WI Logo is "The WI Inspiring Women".
My name is Margaret Crawford, President of Burghfield WI which I joined 5 years ago. Having taken early retirement from a busy career spanning 32 years, I was keen to appreciate our community, and all it took was a neighbour to invite me along.
You may be surprised to learn that our age range is from early 30's to 80's, with age no barrier if you're looking for friendship, fun, outings and interesting talks or developing various skills. Why not give us a try?
This year we have a wide variety of speakers and events ranging from a female Astronaut, "Masterchef" contestant to a garden designer and much more………take a look at our new programme for 2013/14, I'm sure you will find something to interest and inspire you.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in Burghfield Village Hall. We are very friendly and you will be made to feel most welcome, and no meeting goes without tea or coffee and of course the famous WI cake!
